Otway, as always, gave Shoreham his trademark anti-rock star performance.

The entrance, the exit, the encore, everything was debunked.

After 40 years of touring - Otway is 62 - he knows exactly how to serve up his likeable twit persona and is a class act.

Otway playing the Theremin on Body Talk was comedy genius. In his old age he has reduced the possibility of physical injury from his act, but his rekindled partnership with Wild Willy Barrett more than compensates.

Barrett's fine playing almost hides Otway's three-chord trick. His deadpan character plays resigned older brother to Otway's child-like ego.

They actually played Two Little Boys, and they still both are, in the same playful way that Morecombe and Wise were. But there was lots of good music too. The Snowflake Effect was very touching. It was modern music hall and the audience response was affectionate and loud.

Rock And Roll's Greatest Failure, the fan-funded documentary of Otway's life, will be officially launched half way through his current Film Stars tour.

The movie was a success at the Cannes Film Festival but success will never compromise Otway, it will rather provide another toy for him to play with.
