At first, Komedia had the temperature of an arctic bivouac and it was requested that the aircon be turned off. The climate became near-tropical in minutes.

The heat became a recurrent theme for Hitchcock in his absurdist 'twixt-track skits.

The aircon was eventually revived, but not before Nicolas Cage's smouldering attributes in Con Air had been discussed - Hitchcock is a neo-psychedelic genius who wears fractal-patterned shirts; he's not afraid of surrealistic wordplay.

Following a haunting version of The Doors' The Crystal Ship a woman rushed onstage to deliver Hitchcock a cup of tea. This was Anne Lise Frokedal, a consummate guitarist with mesmerising vocals, and the ability to offset Hitchcock's own melodic skill to sublime effect.

Frokedal appears on new release The Man Upstairs, an album that would not be a disappointing purchase for admirers of folk-pop.

While every track performed was touching, original composition Trouble In Your Blood balanced lightness and intensity with such swooping magnificence it couldn't have failed to have moved fans considerably.

The audience was small, but those in attendance were ardent and it felt special to be privy to the near-perfect symbiosis of Frokedal and Hitchcock.
