Strutting like a decapitated chicken overdosed on geek love; Colonel JD stormed the stage fronting Legendary Shack Shakers as they opened up for what promised to be an incredible double-header of Americano-psycho-country-hillbilly-blues.

They powered through a seamless set of tight, dirty and downright dangerous tunes, exorcising the audience with their unique musical deliverance.

Setting the bar impossibly high both musically and in terms of showmanship their frenetic performance, built to a perfect crescendo and left the audience buzzing and clamouring for more after an intense 75-minute set.

It would have been a hard act to follow for any headliner, and in a programming move that appeared to baffle most of the audience, The Sadies were left to pick up those radioactive pieces.

So, in spite of a hardcore of devoted hipster fans who congregated at the front of the stage; these poor rhinestone clad guitar porn peddlers were left to hip and groove their way through their deeper, slower and ethereal country folk-rock inspired set.

Sadly The Sadies never quite managed the same entertainment alchemy as their enigmatic predecessors, so the room gradually emptied out as the audience voted with their feet.
