Like a well known DIY product, Timber! did exactly what it said on the tin.

If you liked big chunks of wood then this show was definitely one not to miss.

Including phenomenal feats of agility and strength, Timber! had its roots in the Canadian province of Quebec.

And the acrobats, musicians and dancers in Cirque Alfonse well and truly brought the great outdoors indoors at their short run at Brighton Dome.

Founded in 2005, members of the troupe had worked with some of the world's most renowned circus companies.

And you could tell.

From juggling with axes to playing hockey on a rolling log, this was a performance which just screamed fun.

Starring the whole family from 66-year-old grandad Alain to two-year-old grandson Arthur, Cirque Alfonse produced a show which made the audience not only feel comfortable in homely surrounds; but also gripping the edge of their seats as the performers went from one daring feat to another.

If there was a negative it was that the thick French accents were difficult to understand in the short narrative sections.

But overall this was an impressive, nearing on incredible performance - one that people of all ages could sit back and enjoy with a great big grin on their faces.
