Holiday On Ice has returned to the Brighton Centre this week in dazzling form to celebrate a milestone.

This engaging Platinum version of the show, which runs until Sunday, combines smooth and daring skating with pulsating music and eye-catching costumes as it marks its 70th anniversary in style.

If Tuesday’s opening night was anything to go by fans are in for a treat.

Olympic gold ice heroes Robin Cousins and Jayne Torvill clapped along in the front row as seven decades skated by.

While the movement and costumes are a feast for the eyes, a wide range of music propels the show forward, covering just about every genre from classical, jazz, electro, gospel and Latin.

The girls are in turn sexy, serene, elegant and street sassy as they skate confidently in costume, while the muscular feats of the men won many admirers on Tuesday night.

There is enough romance to melt the coldest heart, with the captivating swan scene showing special charm and grace.

Dancing On Ice All Stars winner Ray Quinn is a chatty mobile MC, though his second half solo singing spot rather puts the brakes briefly on a pulsating section of a show which ends with a superb finale.
