Whole Lotta Led let the music do the talking as they paid tribute in superb style to legendary band Led Zeppelin.

This excellent outfit is not keen on dressing up in costume to ape the look or personalities of Messrs Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones.

Indeed, three band members might have been mistaken visually for a holiday camp combo in stripes, polka dots and a pirate ‘kerchief. None of this mattered because instead the five-piece group put everything into a captivating performance impressively faithful to the originals.

There were enthusiastic shouts of “Unbelievable!” as they ripped into riffs and showed respect for melody in the more mellow numbers, after opening strongly with Good Times, Bad Times.

Lead guitarist Nick Ferris barnstormed on songs like Ramble On, while lead vocalist Lee Pryor sounded not unlike a gritty Robert Plant without actually trying, also showing sensitivity on a wonderful version of Thank You.

Laconic Geoff Hunt’s bass line flowed into the powerhouse drumming of Charlie Hart to cook up a first class rhythm section that poured energy into numbers like Whole Lotta Love and Dazed And Confused. Clever keyboard playing by Martin Weetman added texture to songs such as Kashmir.
