Maybe there is some bias because of our shared nationality, but Lloyd Langford was effortlessly funny.

His dourness and disdain for anything modern was irresistibly charming, even if you don’t agree with him.

Performing in front of a full house in the modest Studio Room at Komedia, the only downside was there were not more people to be entertained.

With such an intimate venue, audience interaction is a must and he did it with aplomb, even buying one front-rower a Jack Daniels and Coke for his contributions.

His nearly two-hour routine was a seamless flow from one moan to another groan delivered with just the right amount of Welsh cynicism.

It’s this attitude and ability to nail a gag, much like his pal Rhod Gilbert, which propelled him into the limelight.

From boxing a bear to Parisian indecency, he covered a vast array of subjects and delivered them all with aplomb.

This guy is a serious talent and is bound to follow in Gilbert’s footsteps to comedy superstardom.

He’s everything a likeable comedian needs to be – a bit socially awkward, negative and with life experiences which make your roar with laughter.

Oh, and did I mention he’s Welsh?
