Froth showed Brighton why they’re to be taken seriously, with a 45-minute set of blissful mind-expanding psychedelic rock on Tuesday.

The LA-based four-piece wasted no time, kicking straight into a non-stop showcase of material from an imminent release.

The show glided along seamlessly, with tracks flowing into one another. The music only took one brief pause, in order to announce the release of the new record, and allowing frontman, Joo Joo Ashworth to switch to a stunning 12-string guitar.

The progressive nature of each song was nicely enhanced by the effortless style of each member. Stood gormlessly, Ashworth’s droned guitar notes filled the newly refurbished venue with a vast spectrum of piercing frequencies.

Waves of long instrumentals hypnotised the audience, with Ashworth’s sonically pleasing extended guitar solos and rhythm guitarist, Cole Devine’s trippy chords perfectly complimenting each other. The group seemed to jam out in a world of their own, before occasional spontaneous rhythm changes opened up new unexpected musical paths to work along.

Froth’s drifting performance encapsulated all minds around the room. Not bad for a band that started off as a joke just a few years back.
