It was European night at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar, as Iceage tore into the basement venue with an unforgiving set of raw punk-rock.

The venue filled up, with the eager crowd anticipating a memorable performance. The Danish quartet have been frontrunners in the underground punk-rock scene for some time now, with their original, rough sound taking influences from all over.

Frontman, Elias Ronnenfelt cast a dark stare over the moshing audience as he poetically introduced each song by name. Dark, eerie build-ups unexpectedly made way for fast, jagged guitar riffs, fighting with Ronnenfelt’s groaned, sinful lyrics.

The four-price previewed some new material, and played tracks from their 2014 LP, Plowing Into The Field Of Love, which saw the group take a slightly more melodic direction.

The intro of The Lord’s Favorite saw a minor blip, as guitarist, Johan Wieth snapped a string right on cue, almost teasing the crowd, who mirrored the band’s high energy as they threw themselves around throughout.

The quartet from Copenhagen’s painfully dour, angst-ridden sound successfully lured hungry onlookers into a gloomy punk abyss, before spitting them out, as the band continue to force themselves further into the limelight.
