Tropics, were a solid, if not inspirational percussion focused trio.
Drawing a full house to the Prince Albert, for the venue’s headline set on Thursday evening, they never quite cut through to being fully captivating.
Tropics had some nice songs and lead singer Chris Ward certainly has a charming, delicate voice, but for whatever reason his band could never away from the intricacies of what sounded like an endless intro to a Vondelpark song.
The effect was to see a crowd slowly slip away before the end of set, not because the music was poor, just because it gave the sense there was something better on offer.
