The Northern garage-rockers stamped their mark on a thin-but-spirited audience at The Hope And Ruin on Wednesday.

An oddly quiet audience watched on as Lewis Sharman, donning a baggy t-shirt and trackies, and bandmates took to the stage. Tameness was soon replaced by high energy though, as the five-piece burst into material from recently released LP Hot. Reckless. Totally Insane.

Fans continued to flock in, as frontman, Sharman and guitarist, Tom Roper intertwined high octane guitars, taking it in turn to drill out sweet, memorable riffs, providing the fundaments for Sharman’s carefree, shouted lyrics.

A house-party atmosphere grew during the set. Stage dives flew in from all directions, including one from Sharman, who lay on top of the crowd, playing the riff of, arguably the band’s most popular track, Dude Love, which had the room jumping.

Bassist, Ed Crisp took his opportunity to thank remaining fans for their support during a rare quiet moment. A snapped string couldn’t even force a breather, as Sharman impressively set up during an extended interlude.

A Beastie Boys cover brought a hilarious end to an eventful show.

Best Friends proved why their popularity has rocketed, and you can’t see them slowing down.
