Following their first album release in 2013, this young band from California has been extensively touring Europe this summer in an attempt to move into the big-leagues.
At The Hope And Ruin they played a dynamic set in front of a small audience, but are sure to have added some fans to their growing following.
They exploded onto the stage with an apocalyptic opener, creating a huge amount of noise for a four-piece band. The rhythm section played with a rolling garage feel while both guitarists sang discordant harmonies. Rock met psychedelia as the guitarists used spacey effects over their many violent breakdowns.
Unfortunately a mic problem caused one singer to be cut off mid-way through the concert. However the band maintained their energy, smoothly transitioning their songs and playing right through the set without pausing for the applause which surely would have been given.
Surprisingly there was no encore: evidently the band found it difficult to sell out a UK venue. However with persistence and gigs like last night, it’s only a matter of time.
