This tribute to the chick flick to rule them all had the audience dancing in the isles in a nostalgic party atmosphere.
There was no story, just strong vocals and high energy routines celebrating one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time.
The cast of eight talented singers and dancers performed hits including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hey Baby, She’s Like The Wind, Wipe Out and Do You Love Me.
Hungry Eyes was a highlight. The duet dance with breath-taking moves and outstanding lifts oozed sensuality and was the epitome of Dirty Dancing, paired to perfection with soaring vocals.
Visually stunning colourful costumes distracted from the basic set of only a backdrop.
The charm and warmth of the cast meant audience participation was happily welcomed by the crowd, including dance lessons and sing-alongs.
The set also included songs not in the film but fitted with the era, including Proud Mary which went down a storm.
Finale (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life featured beautiful harmonies and complex choreography. However, the iconic lift was strangely absent.
The addition of a live band could push this production to the next level, nevertheless this was a feel good show superbly executed.
