2ManyDJs, MK and the like rocked the semi-derelict stretch of land behind the A23 junction most commonly inhabited by travellers.

The acts may have performed largely predictable sets without pushing the envelope too far but that’s exactly what the thousands of fans wanted to while away a late summer afternoon.

Slightly older school acts such as Oxide And Neutrino and 2ManyDJs gave the slightly older clientele a taste of their youth – but given the average age of the partygoers was probably no more than 20, they may also have given the audience a chance to learn something about dance music circa 1999 – this writer’s peak era!

Waterhall was an ideal location - a large flat piece of land well enough away from causing a nuisance to its neighbours but close enough to the city centre to support a one-day festival.

And the event was well organised.

There was little queuing to get in despite a very thorough bag searching operation - and a well-orchestrated exit policy channelled revellers onto shuttle buses back to the city centre and a taxi queue.

Overall the party was jumping, with no bad vibes. Everyone had a nice time – and was safely back home and tucked up in bed before midnight.
