Anyone who thought there was no longer an appetite for a group of blokes from the Midlands playing a bygone fusion of reggae, pop and jazz should have popped their head into the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Friday night.
It was teaming with punters who had all paid in excess of £30 to watch the band turn back the clock with a signature set list lasting more than two hours.
Duncan Campbell assumed centre stage after his brother Ali left the band in 2008, and a questionable decision to wear a violet polo shirt aside, his performance as the lead vocalist was vintage UB40.
Building up to the finale was a little samey for non-die hard fans, but the hour or so that passed effortlessly gave the crowd ample time to perfect their reggae sway.
The band raised the roof with Red Red Wine to finish before returning for an encore that included their number ones Kingston Town and Can't Help Falling In Love.
Lead guitarist Robin Campbell compered the evening through a muffled microphone looked genuinely thrilled to hear the classics belted back at him and the whole ensemble oozed gratitude.
