Former Strictly Come Dancing favourites Vincent and Flavia showcase their perfect dancing partnership in this, their farewell tour.

Aptly named The Last Tango, the pair lead the audience through a nostalgic story of a couple who meet, fall in love, are parted by war and reunited again.

An older version of Vincent’s character both introduces and links the stories and dances by looking through his attic, finding sentimental objects which spark memories and, in turn, dances.

Although a useful tool for the overarching narrative (as well as a necessity to cover costume changes) it’s difficult not to wish they would just get on with the next dance.

That is testament to the fact the dances are so beautiful. Credit must go to the ensemble cast’s jive number which, with a good dose of end-of-war celebratory fun, had everyone wishing they could get up and join them on Monday night.

But the truly stunning dances are the ones with no one but Vincent and Flavia on stage.

Their partnership is so strong and watching them move to the emotionally charged sounds of the Schindler’s List theme for example, is simply breathtaking.

A very good overall show, but the encore Argentine tango - fast and furious, delivered with both precision and passion, is the stuff dance dreams are made of.
