This show had been sold out for months and tickets were hot.

Australian four piece Hiatus Kaiyote are touring their second album, Choose Your Weapon.

The anticipation in the room was high and 90 minutes later no one left disappointed.

Nai Palm fronted the band with her spangly silver-blue guitar, however, rock posturing was never on the menu.

She was a hugely talented artist and a colossal performer, her voice soaring and dipping, always with power and control.

Lyrically a lot was going on and the torrent of words poured from Palm like she was a conduit of inspiration. Think Erykah Badu, of course, the same spirituality is there, the same futuristic tint. "Make some noize for the boyze", and what a band stood behind her.

Tight as Zappa's Mothers Of Invention, Paul Bender (bass) and Perrin Moss (drums) were a proverbial powerhouse of driving rhythm but without the relentless grooves.

On synthesiser Simon Mavin wove exquisite patterns of ear-tingling sweetness with Palm occasionally joining him on keyboards.

The music was condensed, intense, with no talk between songs.

The audience response was euphoric from start to finished. Hiatus Kaiyote, formed in 2011, are already the finished product, looking to the future.
