The night was going to be special right from the main support AJIMAL's soaring voice and tender keyboard performance.

He finished his set, which could have been headline material, by saying: “I grew up around the corner from a couple of band members of Lanterns, it's great to be on tour with good friends”.

We were all party to an intimate finish with a guitar amplified on the edge of the stage, warming us to him even further.

The evening unfolded into high quality sounds mixed with excellent northern banter.

Their music had a wholly modern classical mix with emotional pop feel.

Sometimes it felt slight like Villagers mixed with Fleetwood Mac other times a Nils Frahm piece of classical outpouring.

The artists had strings, keyboards and guitars, bass and an arrangements with vocals which were worthy of a stadium or at least a Dome Concert Hall show, where they should be on their next tour.
