THIS was definitely not an event for the elderly or the faint hearted - this gig was all about youthful rebellion, attitude, energy and moshing.
Top of the bill, Brighton punk outfit, Negative Measures led from the front with lead vocalist, Jack Goring crowd surfing and singing at the same time.
The audience were exuberant but this was more about having fun than running riot. The music was more about delivering songs at volume and pace than having a blind thrash.
The launch party of the band’s EP, Demotivational Speeches, also featured Brighton punk rock outfit, Skint Circus who also showed a musical side while joining in the general melee and chaos.
Stand out tracks from the EP were the gothic sounding, Justify and the driving, Personality Factory while Skint Circus’ Do What You Want and This is Your Reality grabbed attention.
The lyrics may be all about the pessimism and disillusion but ultimately the evening was full of buzz and fun. Both bands have built up a following – hopefully that will keep growing.
