With infectious glee, award winning jazz vocalist, Liane Carroll used the intimate cabaret style setting to unleash her wit and humour and overshare stories about dentures.

Liane herself said that she had no vanity.

In an image obsessed, male dominated industry it was totally inspiring to see real women at the top of their musical game and having great fun.

Liane was joined by Sophie Bancroft and Sara Colman.

Successful singer songwriters in their own right, they decided to get together and experiment with different combinations of all three talents.

They are great friends and so the tangible chemistry between them meant that they could keep the set structure fairly loose.

They played a variety of songs which they made their own including Dan Hicks’s I Scare Myself and Ricky Lee Jones’s On the Street Where You Live.

Liane was never far from her Hastings roots with songs like Seaside written for her by Joe Stilgoe. Ever generous with her talent, she encouraged improvisation and great performances.

The most notable of these was Sara Colman’s performance of You Can’t Take That Away from Me.

Liane said as long as it was from the heart it was music and we saw an abundance of both that evening.
