“Some people are fabulous. Get over it,” was the motto throughout Alfie Ordinary’s sold out debut show.

With playful comedy, stereotype-busting drag, a piano and a couple of puppets, the show explored the idea of a utopian society free of prejudice and gender norms.

The flamboyant Alfie, the son of a drag queen and so therefore a drag prince, burst into brilliant renditions of classics from the Sugar Babes, The Village People and Whitney Houston to name a few, which were all woven into the narrative of the story.

The highlight of the show saw Alfie, a boy studying for his Gorgeous Certificate of Sassy Excellence, revealed a sparkling football kit after finally fulfilling his dream of scoring a goal while singing the words "I am fabulous" and more to the tune of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful.

Unfortunately, out of his control, the speakers blew just before the end of the show which meant a power-ballad finale with help from Bet Midler (in puppet form) couldn’t go ahead. This didn’t stop the flow of fabulousness as Alfie saved the show with extra sass and a solo Gina G song instead.

With an added deeper meaning Alfie cleverly promoted a happier world free of heteronormativity throughout his show. Complete with confetti, glitter, gold stars and a ton of sequins, it was side-splittingly funny, extraordinary and of course, fabulous and all without being tacky.
