ENGLAND football stars suffered from a severe lack of talent at the Euros on Monday night – probably because it's all being hogged by the Thriller Live cast at Brighton’s Theatre Royal.
The West End musical documenting Michael Jackson’s career rolls into Sussex for two-and-a-half hours of pure King Of Pop indulgence.
This is a bum-wiggling, moonwalk-inducing, audio-visual tribute to the greatest artist in living memory.
Treats are in abundance as hits from Jacko’s early Motown days kick off proceedings. Renditions of ABC and Who’s Loving You set the tone before MJ’s continual reinvention with albums like Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad are later celebrated.
Lead male singer Rory Taylor is star of the show, as are the motley crew of Duracell Bunny dancers and jamming live band.
But don’t dismiss the crowd, either; audience sing-a-longs are a guarantee and it’s no surprise to see 80-year-old Doris has found a new lease of life during Smooth Criminal.
Sometimes too many cooks spoil the broth – superstar Rory would suffice banging out Earth Song on his own. Perhaps the cast performing on a stage slightly smaller than they’re used to could be a factor.
Thriller Live... I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.
