IF less is more, then Honeyblood are poster girls for the old adage.

Despite their stripped-back set-up of vocals, guitar and drums, the Glasgowbased duo created a big sound that defied any premeditation that they might be minimalists.

There was room in the set for the familiar fuzzy pop of All Dragged Up and an outing for the glorious Choker, prior to the closing encore of Super Rat and Killer Bangs.

However, as with every date on this current tour, the night was all about previewing new album Babes Never Die in its entirety.

Initial impressions offered plenty of hope and the infectious melody of Walking At Midnight instantly wormed its way into the head.

The pair’s knack for melody remained the glue that held them together and even during occasional moments where they began to sound a little samey, a catchy turn of tune swiftly regained the attention.

While it still felt like they were a couple of big hitters from making the breakthrough to the next level, Ready For The Magic could easily become that signature tune. It sounded like the rediscovered missing link between classic Hole albums Live Through This and Celebrity Skin.

It is fair to say there is still plenty to come from Honeyblood.
