The Scottish outfit have told sold millions of records and have a huge backlog of songs. Their two hour concert on Sunday showed just why they are still a force to be reckoned with and showcased three decades of songwriting.

From the massive hit Real Gone Kid to I wish I was a Girl Like You and I will and I Won’t, the band concentrated on delivering well-crafted, beautiful songs with energy and feeling.

Ricky Ross is the lead singer, songwriter and front man and his voice was full of energy and power. The sound and emotion was big. His wife, Lorraine McIntosh, provided atmosphere and soul with her support vocals before her own solo performance of the lyrical Cover from the Sky.

The guitar sound was generally more acoustic than electric and the piano, keys and organ gently complemented. The drumming was robust. The encore which lasted a good half hour included a medley of more rocking numbers from Twist and Shout and Set it Up Again to some familiar covers and ramped up the crowd for the finale.

Naturally the set included favourites, Chocolate Girl and Wages. This was a concert to savour.
