Celebrating the music of Freddie Mercury and Queen, tribute show Bohemian Rhapsody opens with zeal and great energy at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne.

It soon has the audience clapping and stomping along to favourites We Will Rock You and I Want it All.

This high standard is maintained almost throughout by a professional cast featuring Simon Bowman, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Duncan Heather, Lucinda Shaw, Rachael Wooding and Andrew Derbyshire. This impressive group wows the audience when dancing around the stage in glam rock gear while singing hits Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Are The Champions and A Kind Of Magic.

Derbyshire delighted most of us on Wednesday with his risque performance of the late Freddie Mercury's I Want To Break Free, although maybe his costume broke free a little too much!

Highlight of the evening, and sizzling with sexual chemistry, is Under Pressure, performed by Simon Bowman and Erin Cornell, both of whom have starred in major West End shows.

Tenor Jonathan Ansell appears near the end of the first half to add an extra dimension. Ansell is not a natural rocker as he used to be part of classically trained group G4, which came second in X Factor, but he excels when singing Barcelona and Who Wants To Live Forever.

Excellent dancers and a fantastic rock band add to an entertaining evening. It was no surprise that the appreciative audience gave this sizzling production a standing ovation at the end on Wednesday. Sadly, the Congress Theatre was only half full.
