A Dancing Beggar
Influences: Maps, Sigur Ros, Amusement Parks On Fire and Epic 45 Profile: Having previously played guitar and drums in other bands, in 2007 21-year-old James Simmons decided to go solo under the moniker A Dancing Beggar, armed with just a laptop, a pair of guitars and a cheap microphone. His debut EP How They Grow was released in 2008, and remixed and re-released earlier this year by the independent label Grand Independent. James began work in its full-length follow-up in March, and in September the album What We Left Behind was released, showcasing a more acoustic and organic sound, and incorporating field recordings with James’s own bedroom studio work. The album is available at iTunes and RawRip, or on CD from Big Cartel.
