The Argus: Dear Prudence

Dear Prudence

From: Brighton

Influences: Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Pulp, Blur, The Smiths, Biffy Clyro, Lower Than Atlantis and Twin Atlantic.

Profile: On April 19 Dear Prudence played a free homecoming show at the Green Door Store, in Trafalgar Street Arches, to mark the launch of their debut single Valentine.

The track, which is out on May 7, was previewed on BBC Two’s The Review Show in March.

Led by tattooed frontwoman Madi Poncia, the five-piece combine punk-pop and New Wave influences with Poncia’s distinctive soulful voice.

They took their name from Siouxsie And The Banshees’s cover of The Beatles’ White Album classic.

“I love Siouxsie Sioux’s dark glamour and feisty attitude,” says Poncia, who was formerly in the Brighton band Redmandred.
