The Argus: Gloria Cycles

Gloria Cycles

From: Brighton

Influences: Everything from elevator music to rave, via Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Cure, Supergrass, Randy Crawford and My Bloody Valentine.

Profile: The end of this month sees Gloria Cycles release their limited edition debut seven inch single Vegas on their own label Wendy Bike Records.

The band, made up of vocalist and guitarist Kenny McCracken, guitarist Julian Ward, bassist Jen Dalby and drummer Jack Hannan, met in Brighton, where Kenny and Julian were studying at Brighton University. They took their name from a tin sign on the wall of their local pub The Basketmakers Arms.

Having played all over the city the band now has their own club night Gloria's Big Night Out, which came to the Engine Rooms earlier this month, and are set to perform at this year's Beachdown Festival in August.
