The Argus: Download of the Week
The Argus: Goodluck Jonathan

Goodluck Jonathan

From: Brighton

Influences: Melodie indie, dance, rock and drum and bass.

Profile: Next month sees Goodluck Jonathan release their debut album This Is Our Way Out, on Something Nothing Records collecting three EPs of material - which have already been acclaimed by the NME and XFM.

The band, which also released this week's Download Broken Heart as a single at the end of May, is made up of five musicians, who dreamed of blurring "the lines between genres until they merge into one barrier between good music and s*** music".

The band meets once a week to throw song ideas around, before separating to create individual parts which are then pieced together to form tight songs.

The three EPs have tracked the band's development and different approaches to their sound, ranging from angsty post-rock to melodic intricacies reminiscent of Foals or The Maccabees.

The full album is released on Monday, July 11.
