The Argus: Mr Chill and Punkdaddy

Mr Chill Meets Punkdaddy

From: Brighton

Profile: Mr Chill, aka Gary Turner of The Dodgems and The Piranhas, and Punkdaddy, Phil Byford of The Fundamentalists and the mastermind behind the punkbrighton.co.uk website, first met in 1972.

Both featured on the Brighton-based independent label Attrix Records compilations Vaultage 78 and 79.

The pair came together again in 2010 to write a song in memory of Turner’s late wife Angie. The album Devil’s Music was the eventual result.

The album combines rock and roll rhythms, blues and Mr Chill’s poetic lyrics with subjects ranging from pub Jack-the-lads, to the modern technology of today, to the London riots. The album is out now on iTunes, CD Baby and Spotify.
