The Argus: Download of the Week
The Argus: Nadege

Nadege

From: Brighton via South Africa

Influences: Surfing, skateboarding and summer sun.

Profile: It was a meeting in a mutual friend’s log cabin in Western Australia which brought Brighton-based trio Nadege together.

All three of the band were born and raised in South Africa, vocalist Nadege growing up in Johannesburg, before moving to Cornwall to surf and play guitar, while brothers Brian and Steven Kellner called Cape Town their home, before moving to Brighton as teenagers.

Drummer Steve had worked with Robin Scott, of M, John Lisley of Dire Straits and The Who’s John Entwhistle, while Brian surfed with the greats in Hawaii and Hossegor, and played a few local shows.

After the January meeting, Nadege moved to Brighton that spring and started collaborating with the brothers.

The result is their debut album Just Be You, which is available through iTunes, and contains this week’s Download track.
