The Argus: Download of the Week
The Argus: Native Roses

Native Roses

From: Brighton

Profile: Having risen from the ashes of Modern Fighting Vehicles, serene folksters Native Roses already have a self-titled EP to their name.

Initially the band's founding trio were swelled by Birdy, who has since left since being signed to Atlantic, and keyboard player Jessica Illsley, the daughter of Dire Straits bassist John Illsley.

They describe their music as an idyllic autumnal sound, perfect for walking through the park, kicking orange and brown leaves.

This week's download is a prelude to new material set for release next year, telling the story of a lonely man staring out of his Montpelier Place window at the grey, run-down car park below.
