Raising Maisie

From: Brighton

Profile: Raising Maisie came together in July 2009, with an aim to reinstate the good old-fashioned British pop band “on the mantelpiece of mainstream music”.

They are already making some waves.

Their song I Need You Baby was nominated as song of the year in the 2010 Brighton Music Awards.

And they have been featured on Gill Mills’s Best Of MySpace podcast, who described them as “Lively piano riff-led pop with a great angular jaunty vocal that puts you in mind of the dumb punk pop of the late 80’s, blended with the style of The Kinks.”

The band has been expanding their live horizons playing shows in London, Portsmouth, Horsham, Guildford and winning a battle of the bands in Crawley.

Made up of Max Langley, Charlie Joseph, Tom Chilton and Zal Jones, Raising Maisie released their debut album Etc Etc in January, which is home to this week’s download.
