Robb Johnson And The Irregulars

From: Brighton

Profile: The Hounslow-born Brentford FC fan behind Hove Folk Club has been playing the UK folk scene since the 1970s, and has more than 30 albums to his name.

His long career has seen him play pubs, clubs, pavements, pickets and benefits, arts centres, festivals, local and national radio, and even the Royal Albert Hall in 1998.

In 2006 he appeared at the Barbican as part of the BBC’s Folk Britannia series, where he led the artists and audience through the First World War song Hanging On The Old Barbed Wire.

Last month saw him put out a Christmas song suite The Ghost Of Love, which tells the story of Mary, an unmarried mum from Feltham, and features songs about Father Christmas taking a trip down Hounslow High Street, pound shop Christmasses, going to see Brentford on Boxing Day and, in Crisis, the plight of the homeless.
