The Argus: Shoot The Dead

Shoot The Dead

From: Brighton

Influences: The Beatles, The Prodigy, Jimi Hendrix and Orbital.

Profile: Born out of Brighton’s party scene in 2009, four-piece Shoot The Dead took their name from a line in a George A Romero zombie film.

Reflecting the fact their initials are STD, the band refer to their followers as carriers. And their infectious sound has been spreading like wildfire, from coming second in the Jar Music national battle of the bands this year, to headlining Primal Scream’s end of tour party following their last Screamadelica show at the Brixton Academy.

Their sound combines fast electro rhythms with rock guitar riffs and frontwoman Andi’s distinctive vocals.

New single Don’t Stop Dancing/Inhuman, released on Monday, June 27, is accompanied by a video by film-maker Shane Ward, which can be seen at www.youtube.com/shootthedeadband
