Profile: For the past few weeks Brighton-based alternative folk trio Stark have been in the studio putting together a new EP set for release in September.

It will follow on from their self-titled debut, and the darker Where The Grey Slates Meet, continuining their fusion of blues, rock, country and folk.

Guitarist and vocalist Jamie Francis started gigging at the age of 12 and has already supported bluesmen Matt Schofield, Ian Siegal and Marcus Bonfanti.

Drummer Evan Carson has also toured Europe with musical productions and bands, with influences in samba and prog rock, while bassist Josh Franklin grew up on a diet of Motown, funk and soul.

This weekend they play a set at the Folk On The Lawn festival in Abbey Mill, Tintern, near Chepstow, with a national tour planned for October.
