Profile: Forming at Cornwall's Falmouth University in 2009, Brighton-based trio Tall Ships have experienced a rapid rise in popularity since the release of their debut album Everything Touching last October.

Last year Tall Ships was nominated for two Artrocker awards for best new band and best single for Gallop, played sessions at the BBC's Maida Vale studio and Rough Trade East and headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Earlier this year the trio of guitarist and vocalist Ric Phethean, bassist Matt Parker and drummer Jamie Bush played the ultra-cool new music festival South By South West in Austin, Texas.Their first US gigs included Snoop Dogg and Usher in the audience.

And last month the band, augmented by producer James Elliott Field on keyboards, toured Europe, playing shows in France, Belgium, The Netherland, Luxembourg and Germany, to back up the release of their new single Phosphoresence on the Big Scary Monsters/Blood And Biscuits label.
