The Argus: The Robot Heart

The Robot Heart

From: Brighton

Influences: Sparklehorse, Brian Wilson and Bjork.

Profile: Next month sees The Robot Heart release a six-track mini-album Dust on Bleeding Heart Recordings. It will be the first taste of the full-length longplayer they have put together with producer Rik Simpson, of The Cure, Coldplay and Portishead fame. The four-piece was put together by songwriter Tom Marsh, with the aim of getting his songs out to a wider audience. The songs themselves apparently came out of a dark period in his life, blighted by drugs and alcohol abuse, arrests, heartbreak and the deaths of those close to him. The Robot Heart were mainstays of the Bleeding Hearts club nights in Brighton, which has now formed its own record label by releasing their work, and have supported Gomez, Tunng, Athlete and Ed Harcourt.
