The Argus: The Jamestown Union

The Jamestown Union

From: Brighton

Influences: The Beatles, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, The Band, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones circa 1969, Johnny Cash, David Bowie, The Clash, Ryan Adams and Towne Van Zandt.

Profile: It’s testament to The Jamestown Union’s potential that they have been invited to play at next month’s Canadian Music Week in Toronto. The only problem at the moment is getting the money together to get over there, which is why the band is playing a gig at the Joogleberry to supplement funding from the PRS Foundation.

The band has been together for two years, and already has an eponymous debut album to their name. The album was recorded using analogue equipment and aims to balance the melodic classicism of mid-Seventies country rock with 21st century indie sensibilities.
