The Argus: The Poppycocks

The Poppycocks

From: Brighton

Influences: Gorkys Zygotic Mynci, Orange Juice, Belle and Sebastian, The Small Faces, Graham Greene, The Kinks, Noel Coward, Squeeze, Stars of Aviation.

Profile: The Poppycocks have lived and played in Brighton for the last few years, garnering an eager following and supporting the likes of Euros Childs, Brakes and The Pipettes. Their perfectly pitched pop songs and witty lyrics bear comparison to Ray Davies, evoking an England of warm summers, Sunday suits and ration-books. After releasing their debut single 'Lovebirds' in 2006, work is now nearly complete on their first album.
