Tricky Micky

From: Brighton

Profile: Brighton’s own purveyor of lad rap is set to release a new EP Fresh From The Udder next month, which was recorded at Brixton’s Dairy Studios.

Tricky Micky has already supported the likes of Example and Klashnekoff on stage, and saw his 2008 single Easy get playlisted on satellite music station Channel U.

His biggest break so far has been catching the eye of The Streets’ founder Mike Skinner, who showed interest in signing him to his now defunct label The Beats, which had previously been home to Example, Professor Green and The Mitchell Brothers.

Since then Micky has worked with Big Brovaz creator Mr Skillz AKA JJC, and reached the last 20 of national talent competition Britain’s Next Urban Superstar.

Last August he released a mixtape called, appropriately enough, The Micks Tape, and in April gave away a free download The Bootleg Mash Up EP through his website.

All his releases are on his own Lad Rap Promotions, although he is hoping a suitable label will soon get their act together and spot him.
