The Argus: White Star Liners

White Star Liners

From: Brighton

Influences: Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse, Oasis, Eels and Kinks.

Profile: Formed in 2008, fuzzy guitared-indie-pop alt-rockers White Star Liners already have an album, The Rural Electrification, and EP, 2009’s You Can Do It, We Can Help, to their name. Their touring history has taken in Liverpool, New York and Brighton, and seen them receive favourable reviews from Kinks songwriter Ray Davies and Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, as well as an Italian fanzine and German DJ. The four-piece is currently preparing for the release of their second EP, Occam’s Razor, on the Brighton-based Numbskull label. The new collection, which features this week’s Download, sees them move into slightly noisier waters than heard on previous releases.
