The Argus: Will Johns

Will Johns

From: Brighton, via London and LA

Influences: Ry Cooder, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton and Joe Bonamassa.

Profile: When it comes to musical pedigrees Will Johns is pretty impressive. Son of actress and model Paula Boyd and producer Andy Johns, of Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Van Halen fame, he got some of his earliest guitar tuition from his uncle Eric Clapton.

Born in London, his early bands in his 15-year career included Oxford's Cloud 9, and GLYDA, which he formed with Ronnie Wood's son Jesse while living in LA.

His live career has seen him play with the likes of Wood, Joe Strummer, Jack Bruce and Bill Wyman. He moved to Brighton in 2008 with the intention of launching a solo career, where he recorded his debut album Count On Me, and is currently working on its follow-up Hooks And Lines with The Will Johns Band which he formed last year.

The band, which features drummer Craig Hudson, bassist Christopher Scott and keyboard-player Lee 'The Deal' Spreadbury, combines original rockin' blues and classic in their live set.
