WITH the long evenings and summer holidays on the way it's a perfect time to take up a new afterwork sport or activity.

This Brighton And Hove Council-run event, which runs until Sunday, July 5, sees more than 100 city sports clubs offer tasters of activities ranging from windsurfing and rock-climbing to croquet and discgolf.

Beach Dreams

NOW in its 16th year, community festival Beach Dreams returns with a children's party and family disco tonight.

The circus-themed children's parade starts from Shoreham Beach School at 11am and Church Of The Good Shepherd at 11.15am tomorrow, with the main stage on Beach Green hosting sets by Elvis Presley tribute Eel Fish Parsley, DJ Krafty Kuts, chart-botherers The Piranhas and former On The Radar stars Mok, Glass City Vice, The Meow Meows and Of Empires over the weekend.

Musicals At The Manor

BILLY Elliot star and West End leading lady Ruthie Henshall is the guest of honour at this black tie celebration of the musical raising cash for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

Henshall will be performing songs from her hit roles in Les Miserables and Chicago, as well as favourites from Gypsy, Sunset Boulevard and Into The Woods in a 500-capacity marquee accompanied by a two-course meal.

London To Brighton Bike Ride

REGISTRATION is now closed for the British Heart Foundation's 40th anniversary 54-mile ride from the capital to the coast, but supporters can cheer on the riders as they come to the end of their journey in Madeira Drive. Places are still open for the night ride on Saturday, July 11.

Scott May's Daredevil Stunt Show
