Sussex Wildlife Trust Festival
The Secret Campsite, Brickyard Farm, Town Littleworth, Barcombe, Friday, July 1, to Sunday, July 3, £72/£36, www.thesecretcampsite.co.uk
NOW in its fourth year the Sussex Wildlife Trust Festival combines guided night walks and bug hunts with pond dipping, bushcraft activities and woodland walks.
The event is organised by Secret Campsite owner Tim Bullen and Sussex Wildlife Trust’s community wildlife officer Michael Blencowe, who also runs the Lewes Community Wildlife Project.
“The weekend offers parents a great opportunity top prise their offspring out of their stuffy bedrooms, away from electronic gadgets – into the fresh air where they will discover the simpler pleasures in life, getting to use all their senses and hopefully develop a lifelong love of the natural environment,” says Blencowe.
Festivalgoers will raise cash for the Trust through refreshments sold at the onsite Secret Teapot Cafe, and the sales of Secret Campsite’s Escapee’s Handbook which offers advice on how to avoid the stresses of modern tech living and deal with mobile phone withdrawal.
