The space outside the famous Spiegeltent is a regular food court, with plenty of options for either fast food or proper sit-down dinners.

Alongside the Spiegelpub, stalls selling hot chocolate, popcorn, and Glastonbury favourite Oli’s Halloumi Cones are a trio of special guests.

  • Aperol Spritz Social

Probably the biggest name on the Steine Gardens is the Aperol Spritz Social – an open-air bar with a covered seating area selling the bright orange Italian liqueur.

Having opened its doors last Friday, the pop-up venue follows on from a similar Aperol Spritz bar at last year’s Edinburgh Festival.

The bar will be open from 11am to 1am every day until Sunday, June 2; a great place to meet friends, hang out and take in the Fringe atmosphere.

As well as a programme of live entertainment, including comedy, music and DJ sets, there is a giant interactive digital gaming screen.

Aperol is generally served as three parts prosecco, two parts Aperol and a dash of soda water, with a slice of fresh orange.

  • Spiegel Supper Club

Sam's Of Brighton has opened a pop-up Spiegel Supper Club during the Fringe.

Four-course pre-show dinners are on offer in the large marquee shared with the Spiegelpub every night except Monday from 6.30pm for £30 per person.

And if that is a little too much, there’s also a stall selling owner Sam Metcalfe’s South Downs minted lamb burgers – as seen in this year’s Big Sussex Market at the Brighton And Hove Food And Drink Festival Spring Harvest.

As well as offering the sort of food available at his award-winning bistro in Paston Place, Kemp Town, eating at the supper club will also guarantee a queue jump into the next Spiegeltent show.

  • Spade And Spoon

Fletching-based Dan Rose is bringing his mobile catering trailer Spade And Spoon to the Spiegelgarden to showcase dishes created from locally-sourced producers and British institutions.

On the menu are raclette using Ogelshield cheese from Somerset, an apple-roasted pulled pork cheese ploughmans, homemade sausage rolls, rhubarb ginger crunch fool and Monmouth filter coffee.

Rose’s background is as a music consultant for the advertising and film industry but he decided to give it all up and celebrate the great British menu through this new business.

“With modern issues surrounding mass production and traceability, people are becoming more curious about sourcing from the surrounding countryside,” he says.

Rose’s catering van with a difference will be in the Spiegelgarden until Sunday, June 2, and is open from 6pm to 11pm on weekdays, and 1pm to 11pm at weekends.
