Having made its name tucked away in Hove’s Brunswick Street East, restaurant and cocktail bar Alcove has moved to one of the city’s most prominent locations.

Mireille and Sebastien Dupire moved into the former Sam’s At Sevendials last week, after being given notice at their previous home.

The new space means the pair are able to expand what they can offer customers.

“Before we were a little off the beaten track, so no one knew we were open for lunch every day,” says Mireille, adding that they ended up opening by request.

“Now we can open up nearly every day, including for brunch on Sunday and Sunday evenings.”

Alcove has launched a brasserie menu to run alongside its à la carte dishes.

“People still want fine dining in Brighton,”

says Mireille. “But we wanted customers to have an option.”

The focus is still on head chef Sebastien’s passion for the classic French menu, built up over more than 25 years of experience, including seven years working on international cruise ships.

Alcove will be honouring all the Christmas parties already booked in their former space, with a seasonal menu on offer for anyone looking for an office party venue.

The former bank vault underneath the restaurant offers private dining for up to 24 people, while Alcove has brought the much-loved cocktail bar with them for before and after-dinner snifters in the main space.

Alcove is also one of many venues now on the late-booking website tablepouncer, which offers up to 50% off food bills on late bookings.
