THOSE who like a hearty breakfast are being encouraged to eat organic next week.

Scores of food businesses are taking part in a campaign calling on people to go organic on Wednesday.

Most of the city’s wholefoods stores and organic cafes are taking part in Wake up to Organic, which will see independent retailers all over the country offering the nation free organic mini-breakfasts.

Brighton based Infinity Foods wholesaler, shop and café, is integral to the campaign, offering free organic oats and muesli to participating shops in Brighton.

Charlie Booth of Infinity said “We are delighted to be supporting the Wake up to Organic campaign as we have always been strong promoters of organic food. We love the idea that this campaign shows how easy it is to make the switch to an organic breakfast.”

Others taking part include Fiveways Fruit, Food Shed Co-op, Grocer & Grain, Hisbe Food, Jasmine Grocers, Raw Health Bar, Seed ‘n’ Sprout, Wild Cherry, 42 Juice, Black Radish, Down to Earth, Gratitude Tree Grocers and Laportes.

Stores taking part will be cooking up organic treats, hosting cookery demos or giving out info on organic.

Tilly Ashton from the Organic Trade Board said: “I’m so pleased that Brighton is embracing the Wake up to Organic campaign.

“The enthusiasm for independent stores and organic products is overwhelming here. Breakfast is an easy and simple way to switch to organic, and we are looking forward to inspiring you to try healthy, organic products at breakfast. Come along to stores and join in!”
