Songwriter Mark Bruce introduces Brighton band The Self Help Group.
“I began writing songs as The Self Help Group five years ago in a tiny studio in my loft. The band has had a few line-up changes and the current group has been together for about two years now.
“We lean towards the sound of the of 1970s Los Angeles scene but with a touch of English folk. We released our debut album Not Waving But Drowning in February of last year. It was well received and made a lot of the end-of-year lists.
“This year we’ll be playing live to continue promoting our album while writing material for our next one. We are playing at Brighton Dome Studio Theatre, in New Road, on Friday, February 21 supporting Chris T-T and The Hoodrats.”
