“We have all known each other for a few years. [Guitarist] Dan Powell and [singer] Jim Elder were in a group together many years back. When the idea for The Daunts came about, we had a good idea of who to call for the job, as we had all seen each other play in other projects.

“Our main influences are good ’ol rock ’n’ roll music. We love all the classics like AC/DC, Rolling Stones, The Band, The Beatles, Paul Weller and Oasis.

“We have been playing choice shows and supports this past year. Among the people we have supported are Chris Helme, Stevie Cradock and Mark Morris. I guess our largest crowd to date would be 500 supporting the awesome Toploader at the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing.

“We are organising a US mini tour of the West Coast, primarily LA in honesty as the budget doesn’t stretch to a large tour bus and crew just yet. The venues are all famous haunts and we cannot wait. We have various film and radio reps coming to see us so we are hoping to do some good business in town. We will be doing a fair amount of recording in LA at a studio that was once home to Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon and many other Laurel Canyon greats, so we are super excited.

“We hope to drop an EP digitally in August. We recorded the EP at Ford Lane in West Sussex – an ace studio which is perfect for bands who like to record live drums and bass at the same time. The tracks are being mixed by Andy Crofts and mastered at Abbey Road by Frank Arkwright.

“Our plans for the future are simply to get to a position to make a steady living from touring and recording. No job in the world would be better than hitting the stage every night, whether it be small clubs or large venues. We have shows in London and France to play on our return from LA but mainly we want to play a UK tour before the year is done. We are just starting out and loving every second.”
